At Edmonton Martial Arts, you can learn karate from knowledgeable and experienced black belt karate instructors who will help you reach your goals and provide a positive and supportive learning environment. They will ensure you have the best learning experience in our Karate dojo in North Edmonton. Our typical karate lesson begins with warm-up exercises and stretching before moving on to techniques and katas. Students will be introduced to various modern and traditional karate styles including:

Shotokan: One of the most popular styles of karate, Shotokan Karate emphasizes strong, powerful movements and a strong stance. It is known for its linear movements and deep, wide stances.

Goju-ryu: This style emphasizes a combination of hard and soft techniques and is known for its circular movements and use of grappling and joint locks.

Shito-ryu: This style is a blend of Shotokan and Goju-ryu, and is known for its emphasis on fluid, circular movements.

Wado-ryu: This style emphasizes fluid, natural movements and is known for its evasive techniques and use of joint locks.

Kyokushin: This style is known for its emphasis on full-contact sparring and endurance training and is considered one of the most physically demanding styles of karate.

Shinkyokushin: This style is a variation of Kyokushin karate and emphasizes striking techniques, such as punches and kicks.

Shotokai: This style emphasizes the spiritual and philosophical aspects of karate and places a strong emphasis on mental training and discipline.

These classes help build strength, coordination, and confidence while teaching self-defense techniques and strategies. Additionally, karate classes for adults can also help improve focus, discipline, and mental clarity. Beyond the physical and mental benefits, karate classes for adults offer the opportunity to meet new people and form meaningful connections. Our adult karate classes are available to people ages 16 years and up. They typically involve training in traditional martial arts techniques, such as punches, kicks, knee strikes, and grappling techniques, as well as kata, sparring, and self-defense techniques. We have karate for beginners and advanced-level skills.
